ORAVI member Brim Aviation / Rescue Air Systems is a utility helicopter organization serving US and international clients.  They will be hosting our May 29th meeting and providing a facility tour and an excellent company presentation on their world-wide aviation operations.
 
They fly MD 500, MD 600, MD 902 series aircraft and an Agusta 109 SP in use in a very wide range of utility operations including flying and hoisting Columbia River Bar Pilots, fire suppression, construction, training, photography, air rescue and charter.

1:00pm Arrive and check in, name badges, snacks, networking.
 
1:30pm  Introduction of attendees.
 
2:00pm Presentation and tour of Brim Aviation / Air Rescue Systems facility.
 
3:00pm  Update on HB 2075 and important aviation related bills currently in the Oregon legislature.  
 
There are currently twelve bills that would have an impact on aviation.  Four of these are of interest to our members and ORAVI staff will do an update on each.
 
We will focus on HB2075 aviation funding / fuel tax bill which is currently moving ahead in Salem with lobbying efforts by ORAVI, assisted by OPA, EAA, AOPA, Oregon Chamber of Commerce and others. This bill could generate $10M per year of funding to ensure that aviation remains a critical transportation and economic development asset in Oregon. 
 
3:30pm  Trials, Tribulations, Divots and Pivots.

Presentations by 5 Oregon aviation companies focused on the critical success factors they experienced in launching and sustaining their businesses. These are not sales pitches, rather discussions of business management experiences that will be of benefit to ORAVI members

COCC offers training in fixed, rotary wing and UAS aircraft, leading to AA degrees, pilot certifications and careers in aviation.

This quarterly meeting is focused on aviation training programs, UAS status and on bills currently in the Oregon legislature that affect aviation.

3:15pm Update on aviation bills the Oregon legislature and UAS update.

UAS John Stevens, COO of SOAR Oregon will update us on the three Oregon unmanned aerial system test ranges.

FAA UAS Proposed rule making update by Seth Johnson of VDOS Global

Charlton Evans, Insitu, Inc presented the FAA certification process overview for UAS.

4:00pm Jake Jacobs will present an update of the following bills:

HB 2075  Aviation funding bill. $8.5 million annually could be generated for aviation in Oregon with a four cent per gallon increase in aviation fuel tax.
SB 534  Allows rural airports to contract for city water and sewer services without the requirement of annexation
HB 2038 Reduces owner liability at privately owned airports
