ORAVI Quarterly Meeting

This first ORAVI quarterly meeting of 2017 will focus on workforce development and will feature presentations on the new Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center (OMIC) and STEM programs.

Snacks and beverages will be provided and there will be plenty of time for networking.  

If you are interested in Workforce Development and connecting with sources of trained technical people for your company, this is the event to attend.

Associate professor at OregonTech represents OIT on the team that is standing up the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center (OMIC).  

The project is in collaboration with Portland State University, Oregon State University, Portland Community College and Boeing. 

This training and apprenticeship facility will be based in Scappoose Oregon.  Senator Betsy Johnson was instrumental in moving this program forward.  

The center is based on a successful model deployed by the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) in Sheffield, UK.

The South Metro-Salem STEM Hub is the operational backbone of the South Metro-Salem STEM Partnership (SMSP), a strategic partnership housed at the Oregon Institute of Technology and a designated Oregon Regional STEM Hub. 
SMSP is a collaborative effort of school districts, community colleges, universities, out-of-school programs and business and community partners that is focused on increasing student access and success in STEM fields.  SMSP Partnership

Mark Gardiner is the retiring chair of the Oregon Department of Aviation board after 8 years of service.  Mark is a private pilot with multiple ratings and is a CEO of Western Financial Group and former CFO at City of Portland.  Mark will lead a panel of experts discussing rural air service plans, funding available, alternatives and targeted communities.  Panel includes:

Fueled for Growth - Celebrate and Accelerate

House Bill 2075 was submitted by ORAVI in the 2015 Oregon Legislative Session and its successful passage is a major milestone for aviation in Oregon.

Over the next six years aviation fuel tax funds of twenty million dollars will become available for grant matches, economic development, rural air service and airport infrastructure development for airports and organizations that qualify under the terms of the legislation.

At Summit 2015 we will focus on the programs, priorities and processes that are being established to apply for funds.  And, to set realistic expectations for the possibility of qualifying to participate in this program.  This a meeting that aviation related businesses will definitely want to attend.
